I mentioned last month that I’d been doing some work about sanctions, to help the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations. The House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee has asked for evidence about the issues of sanctions not considered by the Oakley review. SFHA’s evidence is here.
This is an excellent report that sets out clearly and succinctly why the sanctions regime is inherently unfair and causes untold hardship and misery to those already bearing the brunt of this appalling government’s (UK) policies. I can see why it is a flagship policy for ‘austerity’ otherwise known as private good, public sector bad which of course couldn’t be further from its actual meaning.
