A report from the Policy Exchange expresses some reservations about the sanctions regime: there are too many inappropriate referrals, inflexibly applied. The report suggests they should allow more latitude at the outset with increased penalties for later non-compliance. What’s interesting about the report, more perhaps than the specifics, is the source: the Policy Exchange was until fairly recently the home of Matthew Oakley, now at Which?, who was recently selected by the government to head up a limited review of sanctions policy.
