The legislative programme for 2015-16

The Scottish Government’s  Programme for Government covers lots of proposed interventions, not just the legislative programme.   There are 11 Bills still going through Parliament, and this programme has 8 more.  The new laws cover topics like domestic abuse and burials.  They don’t include the headline Social Security Bill, which is being put off until after next years’ election.

There are some limitations, but this is still an attractive programme.  There’s nothing here that’s a complete waste of time – something the Parliament’s been accused of in the past – and it has to better for a government to  think in terms of social justice than punishing the poor and building barricades to keep the refugees away.
