Keeping up to date with welfare rights, or not

I’ve just been going through the new CPAG Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits Handbook, which arrived this weekend.  It’s an annual ritual.   I don’t do welfare rights any more – my head is stuffed with rules that haven’t applied in years, and I’m a liability – but I do like to watch from the touchline.  Looking at some of the areas where I have significant gaps and holes, the new Council Tax Reduction gets less than two pages, whereas last year Council Tax Benefit had twenty; the replacement for discretionary Social Fund payments gets one page where there used to be two chapters.  I imagine that probably means that no-one in CPAG is on top of what’s happening either.
